American Association of University Women of Missouri (AAUW-MO)

Because Equity is Still an Issue!

Welcome to AAUW of Missouri, a platinum winner of AAUW's 21st Century Recognition Program at the latest national convention (June 2007) in Phoenix, AZ!

Our more than 1000 members throughout the state, in small towns and large cities, on college campuses and in the business world, work together for education and equity for women and girls.

It's easy to join AAUW if you have an associate's or bachelor's degree from a qualified institution. Simply contact our membership vice president, Deb McWard, or the membership chair of a branch near you in the branch listings on this site.

Whether you want to help raise funds for graduate scholars through our Educational Foundation, work with girls in a mentoring program, inform your elected officials about women's issues, or get out the vote, you'll find an AAUW activity for you.

Equity is still an issue.  Join AAUW and help us ensure positive societal change!

AAUW Releases Newly Revised Community Action Guide to Mobilize Women Voters

AAUW has released a 2nd edition of its well-received publication, Woman-to- Woman Voter Turnout: A Manual for Community-Based Campaigns to Mobilize Women to Vote. Thanks to critical donor support, this new tool is now available free online to help make plans to activate women voters across the country this fall.  It guides advocates step-by-step through planning a campaign, which includes recruiting volunteers, working with publicly available voter registration files to identify drop-off women voters in their community, and contacting those women through canvassing and phone banking. In addition to the manual, other online tools include nonpartisan voter guide templates, e-cards, position papers, and AAUW’s Congressional Voting Record for the 110th Congress, First Session.

Where the Girls AreWhere the Girls Are: The Facts About Gender Equity in Education presents a comprehensive look at girls’ educational achievement during the past 35 years, paying special attention to the relationship between girls’ and boys’ progress. Analyses of results from national standardized tests, such as the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) and the SAT and ACT college entrance examinations, as well as other measures of educational achievement, provide an overall picture of trends in gender equity from elementary school to college and beyond.  (Released 5-20-2008)
